Shoes of Prey

My (very smart and stylish) friend recently sent me this link to the most amazing shoe store - Shoes of Prey.  You go online, and customize everything from the toe box, heel, shape, and color of the shoes you want.  And then they make them and send them to you!  Next time I am looking for the perfect pair to match a dress, I am going straight there!

Things I am currently coveting

Pade Vavra Sapphire Stalactite Ring - What outfit wouldn't this look awesome with?

Sundress from Topshop, it even comes in petites for shorties like me!

I haven't owned a pair of tennis shoes since high school, but lately I am really drawn to old school chuck taylors.  These are an awesome version.

How cool is this poster?  They have one for most cities...

He put a smile on my face

How cute fun let's all hug and be happy is this video?  I'd never heard the song before.  My fiance just sent me the link.  After listening to it three times in a row, I have the biggest smile on my face. :)

If I could do it again..

How amazing are these pictures taken by Steep Street from Portland? I have never really gotten that excited about engagement pictures until I saw these stunning photos. We decided not to have any engagement photos taken; I mean how many pictures of us do we really want covering our walls? Obviously we were just not thinking BIG enough.

And then the save the dates - Wow!

They Arrived!

I finally got the shoe clips in the mail that I had ordered from Etsy.  And they are beautiful, and even better than I imagined. I am so excited!  I'm also thinking these would be a fantastic way to jazz up some plain leather flats....there are some colored clip ons that are calling my name.

Bloom Away

As you would guess, I love, love peonies.  I want to fill my house with them.  After meeting with a florist I decided I couldn't wait, and wanted to try growing my own.  Well, I have a very poor track record with plants.  Last week I finally gave up on the office cactus I drowned and threw it away.  So I might be setting the bar too high.

After talking with a gardener at City People's for 30 minutes, I purchased a peony to plant.  I went to clear an area in our yard, and realized after talking to my mom that the green "weeds" I was frantically pulling up were actually a flower - crocus!  Those bulbs at the end of the plants apparently mean not a weed.  Yikes!  Good thing we have more of the crocus than we know what to do with.

And the finished product.  Now I just have to wait.

Color Me Coral (and cream and yellow)

Pictures from Flikr, Martha Stewart, The Knot, Shopbop

We have checked off so many things in the past few weeks - venue, bridesmaid dresses, and finally the photographer!!  We knew he was the one when he mentioned he likes to get to the venue early so that he can switch on his artistic side of the brain or when he said that he doesn't believe in posing (only actors can look good doing that) or when he said he would of course be there for the whole time - he's not going to any other weddings that day, so why would he leave?  We couldn't be more excited!

I waited to pick my colors until I picked out the bridesmaid dresses which will be coral silk shantung (not the one pictured above, but close) and use lots of cream with yellow accents.  Whew!  Now on to the flowers and cake - YUM!

Walk this way

I have been on a shoe hunt for a few months now. Since my wedding will be outside (assuming the Seattle sun cooperates, which can be a big assumption), I want a wedge. I am enough of a klutz as is, I don't need stilettos in grass conspiring against me. Or stairs. Or a glass of champagne. You get my point. And it turns out dressy wedges are actually a huge challenge to find. I finally found and fell in love with these Stuart Weitzmans, but not the $350 price.  Especially for a one time wear.

So, my first DIY project. Well, not really, but I am bedazzling my shoes so does that count?

Shoe Clip Ons from B.Poetic and Enzo shoe from Nordstrom. I cannot wait to get these in the mail and see how it turns out!

Color me blue!

Wow, I have heard of a lot of different ways to choose your wedding colors, but this is by far the king of all options. You select a color, and it automatically suggests the perfect complement of shades! This makes me rethink all my initial thoughts – and discover combinations I never would have thought of.

Or

With LOTS of cream of course!

Optionality

So I started the search for my invitations. Ugh. I was quickly discouraged after going into Paper Source and finding that all the invitations I loved were WAY out of my price range. $1000++ ?? Um, I don’t think so. So. I think I may have found an option. Except that option presents more options: Etsy.com, oh how I can quickly lose hours of my time browsing through your amazing handcrafted options. So far, I have narrowed it down to the following:
Letterpress light! Not sure how this looks in person, but letterpress look for half the price – that has me interested!

Letterpress: More expensive, but it’s the real deal

These options actually made my heart skip a beat, though they might be too girly for the fiance

Mums the word from PEAKaBOODesign. Too busy I think..but look at the prices!

For Me

I am starting this blog because I can’t keep track off all the thoughts, inspirations, and notes I am collecting as I plan my wedding. And, I need an outlet for all of those wedding thoughts to sit before overwhelming my fiance, family, friends, and likely a few coworkers! After spending time on the usual wedding sites, I found that most of the suggestions were of course, the usual – and often not practical or local. So I’d like to start a collection of Seattle area ideas. Some days I feel like eloping and for all the other days I will come here.

I hope you enjoy and get a few inspirations – or if you have a few for me, or any comment, please share!
